I caught a secondary swarm about a week ago, and I'm wondering how long it can take before the queen mates and begins laying. Thanks.

Most people say a week to ten days, I had one hive that I could not find the queen in after a lot of looking, so I ordered one.
They released and killed her instantly?
I examined the hive again and found the queen and eggs only, no larva. So that leads me to believe she had just started laying.
She emerged on 4/22/02 and started laying on 5/10/02. 18 days Now I will wait a little longer before I order a queen.

I received a swarm from a friend that had swarmed on March 31st. After two weeks I was worried that I was queenless. Finally after almost three weeks I saw eggs and larva.
