Thread: Splits Update

Just checked the 2 nucs that I made from one queenless hive about 10 days ago. One of the queens was released and laying. The other I had not uncorked, so i uncorked and let her go. The nucs are setting about 2 feet apart. The nuc with the laying queen seemed to have twice the amount of bees so switched the 2 nucs in order to try to equalize them a little. Will this work? Should I have left them alone? This is the first time I had done anything of this nature and a little advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

    Probably.

You did ok. You could leave them alone or equalize them. If you want to equalize them, what you did is correct. They're both nucs so I don't expect a lot of bees in either one.
