    Question

I live in central Texas & the temperature of late has been in the low 90's by day & around 70 at night.
I have a hive that has two full size supers that are just about full of brood, pollen and honey. The hive has a slatted rack on the bottom and an "attic" on top to improve ventilation. It also has a third, full size super which I 50-50 checker-boarded with the 2nd hive body using new frames of foundation about a 5 weeks ago.
Since that time, they have drawn out & filled the empty frames on the 2nd hive body.
About 2 weeks ago, I installed a medium super of new foundation between the 2nd brood box and the 3rd (previously checker-boarded) super. So, the bees have plenty of room for expansion.
    Now, my question:
For the past few days I have noticed that in the late afternoon bees start collecting on the front porch of the hive and continue to do so until the front porch of the hive is pretty well covered with bees - I'd guess 500 or 600 or so bees and they stay there all night. Then, by 10:00 AM the next morning they have all either gone back into the hive or are out working. Is this normal or is it a sign that do I need to do something? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Add some supers. Create ventilation (prop the lid open, pull the tray on a SBB, open the entrance up...)

This will usually eliminate it on all but the hottest days. ON the hottest days nothing will stop them bearding.
