Well I just recently ordered my bees and they are called three banded italians. Now bear with me because I'm very new but are three banded italians a hybrid or just another name for italians??

In my opinion they are just Italians. But I'm sure it matters to someone.

Yes. 3 banded are supposed to be more like original italian stock not to mention have three bands. But after all these years in US there all just italians. If you like Italian bees thats fine, use ones you like.
