I have been using a pail feeder on the top of my hive surrounded by a empty hive body. I have recently had trouble with small ants coming up the side of the hive. Should I be concerned? If so, any suggestions?
Thanks,

A few is just the price of feeding. If there are a lot I'd take some action. If you use boric acid or baking soda you can disrupt the ants trail and slow them down. If they get too thick, I'd quit feeding for a few days and see if they go away or track it back to the ant hill and take that out. I use a hose and a shovel and turn it into a quagmire digging it up with the shovel while filling it with water.
