I just received all the new equipment to start bee keepin and have it assembled ready for paint. 2 coats, and was wondering if the bottom board inside should be painted and also the inner cover. Clinton

I believe it is a good idea to paint the bottom board. It weathers better having the contact with the outside as it does. The outside of the inner cover should be painted and as long as it is made of a good quality lexan plywood it doesn't need to be painted. Did your equipment include a stand? When you are ready to place the hive be sure it is raised at least four to six inches off the ground. Have fun...
