No, they won't, as a general rule. The lack of
pollen comming in when pollen is available is a
classic sign of a queenless hive that has been
queenless for long enough for the last of her
brood to have hatched out.

Jim Fischer---In my observation hive, the queen has not started laying, but the bees are bringing in lots of pollen.

I'd say the classic sign I've seen of queenlessness is hives hauling in pollen like there is no tomorrow and they have clogged the entire brood nest with it. It never made sense to me.
