My first hive and was away for a week and just got back. It is very hot here and there were hundereds of bees outside the hive and got stung just approaching it. I thought they had plenty of room in the second deep, since i inspected it before i left and there was plenty of room. These are Russian bees and I am thinking they may bee on the verge of swarming... any advice when i inspect tomorrow? thanks for any help...

Chances are they were just hot. I would check your bottom deep for swarm cells if you are concerned.

Swarm cells will be on the bottom of the top deep usually. (Not necessarily). Sounds like you need a little ventilation. I use screened bottom boards and keep an empty miller feeder on top. (Screened shut) Then I prop up the lid. At least put a piece of screen over the hole in the inner cover and Prop up 1 end a little.

They just sound grouchy to me. If they did that again I'd be thinking about a new queen.
