    Cool

Normally by this time of year my colonies have worked their way up to the top brood chamber. However, this year they got off to a good start and the queens have staid in the lower box and laid very few eggs in the top brood chamber. Usually I switch the two boxes every couple of weeks to prevent swarming, but if the colonies are staying in the lower chamber is this a good idea?
    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't bother swapping as long as the hive is not overcrowded. Make sure you add honey supers before the hive considers swarming. The queen not laying eggs may be something to be concerned about. How old is the queen? Is it time to replace her? Are you sure the queen is still there?
