I inspected my hives this weekend and found something that struck me as odd. I was looking (not finding) for the queen and noticed some supercedure cells. High on the comb pointing down. About 4 or five of them. All empty. Are they just making them in case? My other hives were just fine. No queen cells at all.

They often build empty cups and then tear them down later. Maybe it's a threat to the current queen to motivate her.
