I think I should have introduced myself before making my first post yesterday.
I have recently retired from a Zoo where I worked for 26 years. I am a naturalist with a keen interest in birds, plants and of course insects. I researched bees a lot spent some time with an established beekeeper and then decided to jump in with both feet by getting 32 hives of wintered bees. I know I will make a lot of mistakes but I am sure the bees will teach me the best they can and I hope they will be patient with me. I am really looking forward to the spring and increased bee activity. I hope that you all will all help me along as a new"bee".

I didn't mean to sound like I thought you were foolish. At least not necessarily. It seems quite brave and brash to start with 32 hives. It's not what you expect a beginner to say.

I started with one about 30 years ago. But I'm sure you have your reasons and if you've spent time with bees you're not at a total loss. I wish you luck.
