I always mix pollen with honey to make a thick paste if I want to make patties. But they often don't take the patties anyway. Topbarguy puts Vitamin C in them to improve acceptance. I just put dry pollen in a nuc off from the hives as a feeder. They take it really well until the fresh tree pollen comes in then they lose interest quickly.
I have Bee pro on mine because I won it as a door prize. The Bee pro is still in the hives. They took the dry pollen instead.
I tried bee pro this winter. Scraped it out and fed it to the chickens this spring. No sign that the bees even touched it. Maybe i'll put what's left on ebay.
I was trying to decide what to do with it. The chickens will know what to do with it.
