    With all the delicious honey's we can produce here ( the best honey probably comes form SE Qld) why would we want to eat Manuka?

    A quick final question, does one box usually equal one hive? Or can a hive take up multiple boxes?

    Hives are often more than one box high.

    Canberra has a dry climate and the bees would be after moisture.
    They will "smell" fear...and I don't blame you.

    Hi Dani,
    start with planting forage, the dandelion and other plants between your orchard trees. Read loads of books.
    Year two : get a couple of hives, observe, learn...expand.

    We took some honey off today - there is definitely some clover mixed in but the real bonus from the clover is that there is plenty of brood - if the weather is OK , the bees will do the rest.

    The clover is about 500m away - the Euc well over 1 km.
    But nothing has changed from past years - I wonder if there is a humidity/temperature relationship which makes the clover more attractive?
