  1. Re: Undercover Boss - Orkin killing bees

I love how Orkin used the words "treated the bee hive", is that what was done? I am never treating my hives again, if this is what happens when I am done:lpf:

Re: New Nuc dead with 4 days

That's the understatement of the day:D I would suggest getting a hold of your supplier & show him/her those all telling pictures;)

    Re: Queen?

The one on the wood, top left? Her abdomen to me says it's her, & her size is consistent with a virgin.
  4. Re: Props to all you that do bee removal service

Sounds like this one will be a fun one:D. If they are that aggressive, I would consider vacuuming most of them off the comb, & then remove comb. I am not a big fan of this route, but they can't...

  6. Re: Are These White Spots a Problem?

I wondered about this back when. It is actually pollen collected from sticking their body/head so far in the petals of the flower that pollen residue is collected on the hairs of their head;)

    Re: Organic/treatment free beeks

I DO, I do, I do, but only if I can get off this roundabout , and you keep those treated bees out of my hives:lpf: Love the seasonal breakdown of treatments Michael:D

Re: first time selling nucs question

Full disclosure to customers is best, & don't sell something you wouldn't want to buy, or before it's time.:lookout:

    Re: More swarm advice needed

I have never tried to "lock" them in so I would never recommend it. On the excluder, what if it is a virgin queen who needs to get out and get mated?

    Re: Running Out of Room

Actually, you probably lost the hives due to Following the "poor" advice given & not knowing anything different:D. I would hope that no matter how many years experience beekeepers have, they are...
  12. Re: Can you go treatment free after treating?

Another reason to START treatment free from the beginning with treatment free bees? Pass on treated packages and put the money away for treatment free bees. I would imagine you are treating them...
  13. Re: Inexpensive 5.5mm Borescopes: Are They Useful?

I don't know about the quality of the ones you write of, but I have one in the tool box and it gets many uses in the year. They are great for drywall, but even better for stucco and brick after one...
  14. Re: Split a hive and trying to cover my bases

I would suspect then your brother accidently put a queen in with the split?

And an infrared camera is even better, if you can't get a hold of one, consider renting one.
  16. Re: cutouts- free, or who pays to repair

"Normal" is what you make it. As pointed out, if you don't have the "skills, insurance, &/or license", it is best to walk away. If it is within my ability, I give an estimate based upon exactly what...

    Re: Burr Comb in Nuc

If they have started swarm prep, it's already in their bee brains;), and even though they now have more room, they could still continue/finish the process. However, they may also stop/destroy the...

    Re: Burr Comb in Nuc

    Re: Should i re-queen a swarm?

No you should not, or I should write, I would not. If you like wasting money & time, then maybe. What would be the point/purpose? Your not even sure of their laying pattern yet:scratch:

  24. Re: Heeeelp!!! new give swarmed. wife caught them. now what?

I am not so sure about that one, after all she was in there (with eggs & brood?) before they swarmed, which technically they absconded. Somehow the inspection and absconding may be related. There is...
