    Im building 5 frame Nucs for swarm traps...
    I can make 4 from 1 sheet of 3/8" plywood.
    I drilled a 1" hole in one end along the bottom which i can plug when retreiving the trap and it holds 5-6...

    assuming you remember they need decient ventilation.
    1/2" foam board insulation wrapped in black roofing felt should be fine.
    Absorbs heat in the day time and holds in heat better at nite......

    What i did was i took the thin pre cut strip of wood off the top bar that you remove before installing foundation turned on its edge and glued it into the groove and am planning to brush on melted...

    I was thinking about this and my question is can you split hives when no second queen is available and allow the split to raise a new queen even if there are no queen cells made yet?

    I just assembled my 10 Frame Langstroth hives..
    there is almost room for an extra frame in there.. not quite though..
    I thought that the space between frames when they are butted up...

    What, When & when not to feed?
