    The third box is to store enough feed til March. I have wintered on 2 boxes with an inch of sugar on top, they ate that and had to give them sugar bricks. So 3 boxes is what I go with. Mini mating...

    My hive stands, I made them so the space between the supports are spaced to hang a few frames in. don`t have to lean them against anything . My bee vac is next most useful gadget,,,,,,Pete

    I cut 4 out yesterday with an exacto knife. A few I didn`t have a hole, the others I put a piece of wax on it and molded it over the hole. 4 other cells I made little laidlaw push in cages over them....

    I meant it both ways rem., If you install a package your gonna have to feed them,ergo sugar in your honey. Extract it in July (which you might do, or leave it for the dearth in summer) and feed them....

    How would you fit frames in the box with all the bees inside hanging from the inner cover or lid ?I just installed one about 20 min ago, I put 2 frames in the bottom box and 5 frames in the nuc...

    Yes Mark I have, I extract over wintered honey in early April temps still cold I need the frames to make up nucs. The frames are still heavy with honey and crystals after extracting 20 min or more....
