  1. Re: Odfrank finally admits he's been wrong about packages!

Dan, you have to forgive Charlie. As an ex cop, he is quite "shell shocked" and imagines a lot more scenarios than actually happen.

In this case, I bought four packages from my bee club that...

Re: Help Deciding between Warre and Langstroth

I second Michael Bush. Having managed frame hives for 42 years before venturing into topbar hives, I would no sooner trade in my Langstroths for Warres than I would trade in my Smartphone and Toyota...

    Re: Foundation In Swarm Traps?

    >He reports that the ones without foundation are catching many more swarms than the traps containing foundation.

I am in agreement with this statement.

  6. Re: Odfrank finally admits he's been wrong about packages!

November, December and January. Hardiness does not only apply to cold. In this case, it applies to mites and viruses, to which the package bees we were buying had no hardiness. It also applies to...
  7. Re: Odfrank finally admits he's been wrong about packages!

Exactly...jealous powers all of Charlies rants about me. I have more hives, I make more honey, I catch more swarms and my bee trailer tow balls are bigger than the tow balls that he doesn't even...
  8. Re: Odfrank finally admits he's been wrong about packages!

It is amazing how Charlie can make up fantasy stories to further his wacko agenda. I challenge Charlie to have Radar to find one post where I ranted that swarms are better than packages. I bought...

    Re: Is Miracle Grow bad?

Miracle grow is a fertilizer, not an insecticide. There might be types of Miracle grow with insecticide in them. Read the instructions.

Re: Pollination Off a 16' trailer

My balls as you can imagine, my balls are real big - 2 5/16". You have to have big balls for the trailer weight rating.

Re: Do bees prep a new home before swarming

You will be more successful in life basing your beliefs and actions on your own personal experience rather than on something an author has written in a book. I have for decades, dozens of times, seen...

Re: Do bees prep a new home before swarming

Scouts do clean combs before moving in and even when they do not move in. I have a bait outside that they polished combs in for weeks, but no swarm has come. They also often throw out dead queens...

Re: Swarm commander: Does It Really Work?

My unscientific result of the day: Three Warres, the LGO swarm came first and was large as per the host who saw it arrive, the two SL swarms came second and third and looked good also but were not...

Re: Comb from cutout, harvesting the wax

I have found that steam is the best way to melt old combs. I first used pressure cookers to produce steam and then made a steam pot out of a beer keg. Steam removes much more wax from cocoons than a...

Re: Swarm commander: Does It Really Work?

The LGO won in this comparison to SCL. The hive on the left baited with LGO caught a bigger healthier swarm that needed a super when I found it today. The hive second from the right baited with SCL...

Re: I Pay Homage To My Bushkill Vac

I Pay Homage To My Bushkill Vac

Where are they placing them? Using too many boxes? One Warre box is plenty big for a package.

I vacuumed a swarm into a Warre a few days ago, put it on top off two others empties with a feeder on...

    Re: extra deep frames

Rossman had the 11 1/4" frames a few years back, Dadant has the 10 5/8" foundation with hooks just a few weeks ago. I use GTB's and GBB's and cut of the hooks. The Rossman end bars are a bit thin...

    Re: Pipe Removal

Chase them out one end with Honey B Gone, vacuum them up as they come out, do the cutout free of bees with some long handled tools. Untested suggestion.
