    Re: Inspiration to keep going

Cwoods, post 7 & 9 are from well managed outfits with sound advice.

P.S. it could be raining honey outside and some keepers would have there barrels turned upside down. :)

    Re: mineral supplements for bees

There are reasons why our lipids, minerals, vitamins, sterols & fats add up to more than 10% of our sub..... there's a lot more to life than just protein, although it's important one.

You think farmers are going to continue to pay for duds @ $175 a box?

The noose is getting tighter. :)
  13. Re: Leaving off Fumagillin made no difference in survival rate - Thank Jim Lyon.

Well said Rob..... it seems just keeping the bees healthy goes along way, but the mites has got to be enemy number one. Don't let your guard down on the mite levels.
  14. Re: Leaving off Fumagillin made no difference in survival rate - Thank Jim Lyon.

We use a micro-flora builder in our sub that promotes a strong healthy mid gut that competes with nosema spores. Haven't use anything else in years.

    Re: 3 frame Nucs

Just got finished making up a ton of two frames of brood with two frames of honey nucs, one thing to watch for is feeding small nucs, they can be prone to robbing.
