Thank you! these were good links.
uh-oh. *blush* the guy who supplied me with these is away on vacation, so I can't check with hikm for what it is.
Yes you may be right. Will this make a problem for extraction?
Thanks for the reply. I'm using pads that are laid across the top of the upper brood box and will treat again in 7-10 days. That should take care of any brood and cells that were capped during the...

I extracted my honey a few weeks ago but a friend of mine decided to hold off until the end of August.
Meanwhile I am going to treat my hives with oxalic acid this weekend and she wants me to...
Haha! good one! and I work in Trenton too! But even if I clipped a $10 bill to the bag, nobody would pick it up. Some people may be dishonest, but they're not crazy ;)

So you're "Certan" that it'll work? ;)
I have to tell you I tried cooking them in garbage bags in the parked car but when it was time to go to work I nearly passed out from the ghastly smell...
hmmm A little googling showed me that a parked car with closed windows heats up to 122 degrees in about 10 minutes smile.gif
Guess I'll bring some garbage bags and do a little wax moth...
Thanks for all these answers! I don't feel quite so alone and . . icky ;)
Mike, what is Bt? and is that easily available at garden centers?
I had something similar to this -- a month ago I was putting supers on what seemed to be happy healthy hive. Today I checked and found
-no queen
-no brood
-no honey stores
-wax moths galore...

GeeBeeNC, I'd say that the advice stays the same. Your situation is...
Thanks to all of you for your responses. I visited the orchard before bringing my bees over and found that it is about 20 small apple trees just coming into bloom on less than an acre of land. Not...
Hello everybody
This is my third year beekeeping.
I have two hives in my backyard. One is doing absolutely great. Almost too good. The queen has filled the lower brood box and moved into the...
Remember when considering a "better location" that the price of gas is skyrocketing. If you are in it for profit, make sure you'll make a profit considering your gas expenses.
Oh I'm not in it for...
Using a passenger car poses a certain level
of "risk" to the whole moving operation
Actually we brought them home in the trunk of my car when we got them as nucs.
I know the trunk will close...
Hi Everyone
I've decided to move my hives to a better location about 1/2 hour drive from here (better feed at my brother's house. Here on the edge of the NJ Pine Barrens they nearly starve every...
Sent! I wish getting my family's presents wrapped was this easy.
Rebooting the server must have done the trick because now the pages load nice and fast http://www.beesource.com/ubb/smile.gif
I enjoyed the photos!
It's a little too soon to see much, but once you get it going I think it'll be interesting to read what others post. (I'm assuming these will be public?) Nice job. One suggestion is to speed up your...
I got it!
>When setting up a lure you should keep away from the thing your trying to protect other wise the lure will bring the infestation to the plant, or in this case bee hive. I did that with the Japanese...
Speaking of making photos for your book, when do we get a look at MB himself? any photos of you out there, Michael?
Now that I positively know that it isn't me, it's my location that holds my bees back, I plan to move* somewhere that will let me have booming hives and plenty of honey.
Here on the edge of the NJ...
People are bringing up the idea of taking nucs through the winter. Since they won't have much in the way of stores, they will have to feed these nucs.
I had to feed my hives through the coldest part...
yes I see this is in the wrong forum. I'll just repost it over in beekeeping 101. Sorry!
