    Thanks, not sure how to do that this time of year. I think I'll just knock out the comb and scrape em down, take out the top bar cleat and prepare them for foundationless in the spring.

    It's my understanding that the ants only work when they are wet from extracting and they only clean the honey. Never tried it with honey sine I put the super back on the hive and let the girls reuses...

    If you are buying used equipment look for wax moth contamination. You will see from pic one what they do to the box. They will eat into the wood to build a cocoon. Pic 2 is what they do to the comb....
