    Ewwww, it's just me but I couldn't handle having those in my hives. So far a Meadowlark and a Mocking bird have daily roosting spots on my hives.

    UPDATE....now that the sun has set, husband spent a few minutes around the hive (very guarded and temperamental lately, didn't want to smoke them) 3 sides of the boxes look good, its the fourth side...

    For quite sometime (about half the summer) we noticed bees in our second hive had much more black, black head and black thorax, black and brown bottom end. Are these Russian?
