    Re: $3.25 medium supers!

I started making my first hive parts last night. I am using mostly Poplar that was cut off our place. I had to plane it and edge it, but I still like doing it all myself.

    Re: Stung by a bee

I'd suggest, unless allergic or something, you take some Zyrtec and Zantac. Both are antihistamines that work on different receptors. It may help with the inflammation and such.

  7. Re: I think I need to give up on bee keeping.

Sorry for your trouble. To answer one of your questions, yes, you can become allergic to bees (or anything for that matter) at any time. So just because you weren't last year, doesn't mean you...

    Feeding in spring?

Do I need to feed my bees this time of year? This is an established hive, but I'm new to bee keeping.

    Thanks

    Re: Hi from Indiana

    Thanks everyone.
I am a member (I guess?) of Bedford Beekeepers. But I've only been to 1 meeting. There always seems to be something else happening on Tuesday nights. I'm making it a point to get...

    Hi from Indiana

New bee keeper here from southern Indiana.

My wife and I got a hive from her parents for Christmas. I don't know much, I've been reading though.

Re: Help! I think my bees are leaving!

    Entrance reducer removed.
Just went out and checked on them again. Still lots of bees around the entrance, but all the ones that were on the outside are gone (inside? flown away? who knows)
    I took...

Re: Help! I think my bees are leaving!

Ok. I took the reducer board out of the opening and propped the top up, maybe that will help with ventilation.

My wife is out of town for the night and I am on call for work and have to go back...

Re: Help! I think my bees are leaving!

My in-laws brought this hive down in January, so I haven't had to do anything to it yet.

It has been cool here at night, in the 30's, so I still had the reducer in. I'll go out and remove...

Re: Help! I think my bees are leaving!

I know there is room in the top super for 3-4 more frames. We left them out so I could put some ziplock feeders in. So should I put those empty frames in? Switch the top and bottom supers?
    Would...

Help! I think my bees are leaving!

My wife and I got a hive from her parents for Christmas last year. They have been busily working away. I went outside today and found this!
