    Gone girls

I have had a suspicion since October the this hive was queenless. They have been quite active since The treatment for mites and I thought they were happy.

I think they must have moved in with...

    Re: Sideliner Profitability Study

"The Hive and the Honeybee" has a great chapter on the business of beekeeping. Some of the stuff is a little out of date, but it is a great template.

Re: What to do with all the honey?

If you are afraid of being inspected you shouldn't sell the honey. You shouldn't even eat it.

    Re: Sideliner Profitability Study

It sounds like you will hit a plateau at about 50-60. How long does it take to deal with the honey from the 25 you have now with your current resources.
  7. Re: Difference between conventional frame and foundationless frame

You could just use it without a foundation or some people install a popsicle stick or a narrow piece of foundation.

Re: Lost 2 of my 4 hives already

I guess if your only tool is a vaporizer, everything looks like a mite.

I wonder if mites caused Putin to invade Crimea. He acts a lot like my bees did before I treated.

    There is a possibility...

Don't count your honey before you get your bees.

    Re: Medium Nuc Build

Everything I make is a little wobbly and doesn't fit together well. I enjoy making stuff and the bees put enough propolis to hold them together.

It is not the weather in Lexington, SC.

By the way you do have mites but that is probably not what killed your hives. I would guess poison. You should definitely send some to the state...

Yesterday the bees were flying almost in a cloud. They were even bringing in a yellow pollen. I decided that would be a good time to check the sugar bricks.

The bricks were almost untouched. I...

    Re: Bullet holes for Christmas

You have to make a police report anyway if you want to claim on your insurance. If your cops are like ours, they will enjoy complaining about the paper work but they won't do anything else.

    Re: screened bottom boards

mostly things just fall through. All of that stuff under the screen would have been sitting there on a solid board or the bees would have had to haul it off.
