  1. Re: Punctuality in the Workplace; Excuses, Excuses

So you asked for opinions; here's mine:
There was very little useful information in the article.
It was as if the article was written for the employees, not management.

    The first real issue to...

Re: Spray Sugar Water instead of Smoke

Wendell, the problem is, you have to be able to spray the spray for it to have any effect.
When you walk up to a hive and CRACK the lid loose, it is already too late!
The idea of smoke is to...

  4. Re: When are my package bees no longer a 'package'?

That right there qualifies as post of the day; maybe year to date!

Thank you for the book recommendation.
Without having read the book yet, let me say that just the title points to the problem.

Many years ago, I had the job of training people to run a certain very complex machine.
Every time I was given a new trainee, and after introducing myself, I would turn my back to the machine, look...

    Re: Wintering Nucs - Redux

Well, I can,,but don't think it would be of much value to you in your location.
As Michael pointed out for example, late flows in Vermont would have the nucs blowing out all around you if managed...

Here are some ideas to chew on.
Look carefully at the weights and the amount of weight loss from month to month:

    Re: Wintering Nucs - Redux

Rick, I am not up on what your climate is like in TN, but I seriously don't think you need double story nucs.
Many, many thousands of single story 5 frame nucs are over wintered every year in...

Re: What kind of honey pump?

We love our little Maxant honey pump.
It ticks along at 2 - 3 GPM with no problems what so ever decade after decade.
I see that they are still very affordable.
    Great little workhorse!

    No, not true.
The shots will begin with frequent shots of low value and slowly ratchet up to final maintenance shots that are one per month, equivalent to two bee stings.
