Re: drawn cone or drawing cone

1:1 syrup will get em working for you. You did not say how your hives are set up or how many boxes/supers you have on them. Either way if I want them to draw comb in non-nectar flow; I add a...

  8. Re: Nectar source after locust and poplar in NE Maryland

    Phil,
You said 4 boxes, is that 4 supers or that total you have on 4.
In Maryland I average 4 supers on top of 3 mediums for brood.

They won't touch that sweet smelly Japanese honey suckle or the morning glories. Raspberries or similar are only very minor here unless your around...
  12. Re: Nectar source after locust and poplar in NE Maryland

Very little during summer, if you got some good areas of goldenrod you may have a minor flow in Sept.
    I'm extracting this weekend.

Re: Will they recover the nectar/honey?

The flow is about over in your area; I would not put it outside of the hive. Actually would leave it inside with small stick dividers and also reduce your entrance as robbing is about to get going.
  15. Re: Is it OK to have Top Bar Hive and Langstroth in Same Bee Yard?

no problems for the bees if you have both in the same yard. Enjoy.
