    Alarm phermone does not smell like bananas to everone, it doesn't to me at least. If it's only when they're agitated then it's probably alarm phermone.

    It is a waste of bees to just let it die out. Shake the bees out near your other hives as you disassemble the laying worker hive, most will be accepted.
