If dry sugar is my best option, is 10 pounds enough for a month or so?
  2. Waited till the last minute to check on winter stores, now what?

First let me be the first to admit that I haven't taken care of my girls this fall like I should have. My girls

    Re: moving hives

I stuff the entrance with a foam couch cushion and wrap a ratchet strap around the hive to help hold it together. If you smoke those bearded bees they will go back inside.

    Why different color of honey?

Silly question, but why can honey from the same fields be a different color from year to year. I know it's because of their nectar source. But I had a field this year that made an extremely dark...

I had a similar problem last year. I loved inspecting my hives and would try to find the queen every time I inspected. My hive went queenless suddenly. I didn't have any eggs, I had no new brood....
