    Re: choosing first bees

started 2 packages 2 yrs. in a row , seen all four superseded within a couple months of starting them.
so all are mutts before summers end , do not spend extra $ for a specific breed

    Re: Beginner questions on frames

    check your prices good
I have found at the same supplier you can get the same things ( ala cart ) cheaper than kit prices .
don't waste your money on grade A boxes if cheaper is offered.

    Re: Bee Vacuum Please

    Bushkill Bee Vac.
throw away their cut out shim the holes are to big, to many heads get stuck.
replace with (heavy screen wire) plenty of air flow and no stuck heads.
    hundreds killed first time...

Re: how to kill hive of bees

shake them out, the laying worker should be too heavy to fly back.
scrape the top off the drone cells and use the comb.
wont be long before they kick the drones out anyway.

    Re: Queen cells

chances are you are not queen right.
    with that many cells.
if you are ,actually find the old queen.
and do a split taking the old queen and a couple of frames out (honey and brood)to a new box....

  15. Re: Difficulty in isolating where exactly a swarm/colony is inside old farmhouse ceil

I've done a couple of cutouts, and have found that they started at the highest point.
so look higher at the main rafter support in that wall.
    good luck and have fun

Re: Multiple laying queens in one hive.

if you have 12 bars you must have a top bar hive.

    Re: Supercedure Swarm?

first check to see if the queen is there.
take the old queen out now. with a couple frames and the bees on them .
you just start your next hive with that.
the remainder thinks they just swarmed...
