Maize pollen is taken in much more frequently than beekeepers think:

The bees in the valley where CCD appeared suddenly had been feeding on maize pollen for years and were thriving.
Bees tend to compensate for low amino acid content by collecting more of the pollen,...
Neonics are neurotoxins, and the nervous system of bees and termites work on the same principles.
If they daze termites enough to stops them from cleaning and grooming it is very likely to stop...

In a way, yes!
The bees that collect the neonic contaminated pollen & nectar don't 'consume' it, they just transport it.
It's the nurse bees that ingest the pollen and some of that nectar, the...
Hi grondeau
I would be interested in your opinion on this theory:
It would explain why no or very little residue of neonics can be found in CCD hives.
I have done my homework, read the studies and looked at lots of hives, some of them showing all symptoms of CCD.
Of course this beekeeper could be lucky, whoever applied the pesticide might not...

Hi cerezha
Let me give you an example of how Randy Oliver works, right from the front page of his website:

I hope you have already read the 'Harvard Study'...
I stick with my opinion that this loss was due to neonics.
So if the beekeeper cannot eliminate the source of the pesticide, should he get bees again, just to lose them the same way as this...

There's a thread about studies on neonics, maybe you want to have a look there.
I have read most of what's there and quite a few more, cut out the disinformation that's spread by the pesticide...
You obviously don't know me, I'm not easily scared.
I just got fed up with the attitude of most posters on this thread.
As for the ban on the 'Beekeeping Forum' - it was purely a matter of...
