    Re: Oxalic Acid Trickle report

    Yes, multiply by 0.714 to get OA anh.

    0.714 x 3.5% OA dih. = 2.5% OA anh.

    Re: Oxalic Acid Trickle report

    I use mass concentration % [Mass/Volume].

    Example 2

    ΔV = 292 [g] x 0.605 [mL/g] = 176.66 [mL]

    V1:1 = 4000 [g] x 1.63 [mL/g] = 6520 [mL]

    volume of the mixture V = V1:1 + ΔV = 6520 +...

    No.
    Estimating the population of a hive without openinig it is not accurate. It is uncertain and doubtful.

    Re: Incubator temp controller question

    Nowadays, in such cases is a PID Controller with a Pt100 temperature sensor normally used. Not a proportional one. They are cheep. You will get a good temperature stability and accuracy < 0.5 °C.

    Re: Varroa treatment: what options do i have

    Spraying the bees on both comb sides with a water solution of oxalic acid dihydrate works very well. Do not wet them. Use a respirator.
  13. Re: Hey, which of these EBay refractometers would you buy?

    You need only one scale - for honey.
    You need accuracy - 0.1% or 0.2%
    You need a reference plate and contact fluid to calibrate the device.
    You do not need a pipette to take so extremely small...
