Oldtimer,
The generator would work fine. The Heilser unit does not contain any electronics. I think you
will like the quality of the unit!
I think my hives will be fine. They made it through Katrina. I will
be moving my nucs and strapping them together.

The dribbling method and the vaporizing method are two different treatments. Dribbling
is once a year, vaporizing once a week for 3 weeks OR once during a broodless period.
Once a year is all the bee's can take. More than that with dribbling can be lethal.
You can fog them (vaporize method) several times without harm. 3 times is normally used to cover the brood cycles...
Ronbo-Do not put your bees under a tree. Put them where they are out in the sun
for most of the day. That will help with the hive beetles. Varroa-find what works for you.

I keep mine in the sun, migratory tops and screened bottoms. I try to place my hives on the
east side of a tree line so they will be in the shade by 3 or 4 o'clock. It

and a cover. Cut the log top...
There are spacers that nail in that you leave in the hive. The other type is used like a comb, (in theory anyway), keeps spacing the same.
Great pic's Mark! The one with the bear was kinda scary.
I gotta stay off of Facebook, I was looking for the LIKE button.....

That's about 80 hive beetles. I did smash them with a hive tool, got most of them.
It does keep them out of the hive.
I use Grooved Top-Grooved Bottom for plastic foundation. Its faster and
I am moving to plastic due to the labor savings. I prefer wax foundation but
it just takes too much time.
Got rid of telescoping covers and switched to migratory covers.
SHB love the crack between the lip of the cover and the hive body.
I am making new covers that are flat with no outer rim for the SHB...
