10 day old swarm--I was wondering why they didn't move...

Found a swarm underneath a hive, at the back. I put a hive with drawn comb nearby but after 5 days they were still sitting under the established hive.

Golden Rod just started blooming this week...

SE shore of Lake Ontario. Should know in a few weeks what the bees will do with it. Aster in maybe about 2 weeks or so.

    I have Barnswallows;

in general, I don't think they pose a much of a problem.

I do worry about young queens on a mating flight though.

Drone "rolled" by 3 Yellow Jackets

On the ground in front of a hive yesterday, I saw 3 yellow Jackets "rolling" a drone. I took a heavy footed action to stop this sort of activity.
I haven't seen them bothering the workers yet.

    Cover it

Can you put down old carpeting or something?

I had a case of poison ivy reaction (over reaction) after a leaf brushed my arm. Some one told me they read somewhere that the ivy has become stronger.

    Little Cinderellas

I noticed this cleaning action after I removed the entrance reducers;they were cleaning the area formerly covered. Looked like they were licking the entrance clean---what a job.

    Sure it's not a splinter?

Time to get out the tweezers. If it's really painful have it professionally removed.
  17. Thanks

Good to see----I've got a long wait until my Package Bees arrive, to refill the boxes from the dead hives. I painted them the same light green too.

Poll: I'd bail on this stituation

He wants you to give him money for bees he'll inspect when he feels like it, on land he doesn't own? And he's not sure he wants to sell? (probably a bargaining tactic)

    Forget the age aspect.
