    Im with Mr. Bush^. Only real way to tell is to taste some. If it doesnt have much of a flavor but is sweet, then you got yourself some capped sugar syrup.

    I would do it now. They are not going to fly around cause of it being dark. Just use indirect light to see. They dont like flash lights and such. The bees will be rearing to get out in the morning....
