    Question on dud queen.

I cut a colony out of a wall in early August. Either missed or killed the original queen. The bees raised a new one. She looked normal but never laid any eggs that I could find. I'm pretty sure she...

Re: What's the purpose of the sugar in HBH?

I looked it up and wiki says its main use is as a surfactant but, if you keep reading it says it can be used as an emulsifier.

Now that we are on this subject. What is the sodium lauryl sulfate included for? I know it's a surfactant.

Re: What's the purpose of the sugar in HBH?

I saw an electron microscope photo showing the hair burned off the mouth parts of a mite. Sounds like the deck is stacked against varroa with this stuff

Al beekeeping is local. Shake some bees in a tub like they use for bussing tables at a restaurant and then pour them into a jar.

Re: Bees and Spraying Fruit Trees?

10 miles away is far enough. President of our bee club list several hives due to a neighbor spraying while blooming. Run away.
