Re: Spotty brood pattern VS hatched cells?

True. I was assuming that they had a brood break up in Canada. Generalizing early in the year you are more likely to see a better pattern from the inside out. Once she gets laying it gets a little...

Re: Spotty brood pattern VS hatched cells?

The queen will usually lay in a spiral pattern from the middle out. Follow that pattern and you will see if something is out of order

    Re: Broodless hive

You say it isn't reaching larval stage? What is your reasoning to thing that?
What you may have is a new laying virgin queen. All it takes is one of those queens to have hatched and she is laying....

Re: Quick ?, feeding 1:1 for comb building

Should be able to build with the nectar coming in. Mine are going "hog wild"... See what I did there😄. I have a box every 10 days being drawn with the nectar coming in. Worry more about adding boxes...

    Re: bee tree food?

Foulbrood may be the one of the most popular bee disease but I wouldn't say that it would be your first reaction on why the bees are not there. Don't get me wrong... I would not feed my bees that...

I am here in San Antonio and a flow just started. I look at pulled comb. I will watch the pollen come in and as soon as I start seeing the mesquite trees starting to bloom I now it is about to start....

what kind of bees do you have? Italians? I wintered singles with little effort here in south central Texas. I imagine you get a little colder but I have some in the hill country and as long as I...

I had screwed one of my bottom boxes in one time thinking that if I had to move the whole hive it would be super easy. The only issue was I to forgot that I had done it and come spring I had to...

In Texas I am on a flow right now. Why do you think you would need to feed if they are established. Mine are bringing in nectar and have almost filled out a full box in a week. I would be more...

Re: Funniest bee question ever asked

One of the number one questions I get is if I just let my bees fly anywhere. They don't understand why I don't keep them pinned up.
  19. Re: Thoughts on reducing space in the spring - looking for input

I wouldn't reduce if you had 5-6 frames of bees. Feed 1:1 and pollen parties and they will explode. You can get in a situation where they grow fast and swarn without the room. If they become smaller...
