  2. Re: Simple cage queen introduction in just one day!

maybe he is trying to get her to lay so the bee will accept her. Brother Adam stated that bees will except any queen as long as she is acting like a laying queen. Just a guess

    Re: NewBee

Its not really that late yet. You should be able to get local nucs till the mid of June or so. Look for your local or state bee keeping club, some one probably has a few to sale.
  5. Re: Installed package bees. Workers killing drones?

Rusty do you know if they will do this behavior before the normal winter exodus of drones? I am foundationless so I have always had a natural drone load per hive but I have never seen this behavior...

    Re: Queen problem? Laying worker?

if you do have a laying worker you will normally get multiple eggs in every cell and not in the middle as the workers body is too short to normally touch bottom and all you will get are drones.

    Re: Queen problem? Laying worker?

    Re: treating pests before winter

Well that depends on what your definition of organic is and if you are only treating for winter, I can promise you that when winter gets here you wont have time to treat to save your hive as most...

    Re: Help!!!

  11. Re: Put on Second Medium Brood Box too Soon, Now What?

You can put a frame or two up in to the second box towards the middle and it will hope coax them in to it. Them just put a empty frame in the location that you pulled the frame out of. Try to stay...

    Re: Too many bees

I don't see the bees an issue as much as I see you might have to modify your mgmt. style a bit and maybe dedicate more time then you might like to working them.
At the price of what nucs go for and...
  13. Re: OTS Queen rearing, why notch at all

Notching is only a very small part of the OTS system. With the whole system in place you wont use mite-a-cides or every have to worry about swarms. You can get the first book for free on his web site...
  14. Re: Hive issues : drone, drone drone not much going on

a laying worker can make it back it from shake outs and if this is the case they will still see her as the queen.

    Re: Installing packages after dark

I don't see why if you are just moving frames from one box to another. IF you do decide to do it you might at the least use a red lens as bees will move to the light and crawlers have a tendency to...
