Re: My son gave me this last night.

He's a KEEPER and so are you! (Pun intended) Great to hear! God bless your whole family. Age 6? and quite an artist!
  2. Re: Sour cherries - want to make cherry melomel/cherry mead

Thank you so much Tenbears! That was a lot of typing for you! Much appreciated.

The cherries (Danube) have red juice and are said to be a nice wine cherry.

What can we use for a fermentation...

    Question on a split

We pulled 7 frames (brood, stores, full of bees) and the marked queen, added 2 honey frames and an empty brood comb and made a split. This was from a hive of two mediums (10 frame) with good...

Re: New Package - Sugar Water NOT Punctured

Oh, and I would not have sent the evidence to the seller either. Showing him the can in person was good. Best to keep evidence in your possession.

Re: New Package - Sugar Water NOT Punctured

    Slam dunk
Vendor agreed to hold package and stated they would be fine.
Neither side knew the syrup can was not punctured. It mattered in this case. Stuff happens. Customer was not responsible...

I still cannot edit my posts! The last sentence should have mentioned suggesting book titles (not providing books of course).

    Re: Health Benefits of Honey

I think it is great that you will educate others on the benefits of honey.

Please stress that honey and sugar are not at all the same!!!

People have no idea how much can be said about the...

Re: Bees not going into new top boxes

When rubber banding cut comb into frames, just remember to keep the comb right side up. Cells should slant upwards from the center of the frame.

Re: What is chewing on my hive?

You could check on the backside of the board to see what that shows if anything. I think it is a bigger animal, but not too big. Bigger than a squirrel. I am thinking raccoon, possum, coyote,...

    White bee in hive

Today we noticed one WHITE BEE on a frame. It was all white and didn't look too healthy. It was not a newly emerged bee. It was alive.

What goes??? Never saw this before.
  15. Re: Almost a year in, first sting....hillarious reaction.

It could have been worse. You could have ripped off your beesuit, too, and done the unhappy dance!

    Re: Harvesting Beebread?

My understanding is that bee bread made by bees or manmade is more easily digested than just bee pollen. Yes, there is more nutrition then. It probably has a longer shelf life.
  20. Re: How to get the bees to use my water source instead of my neighbor's bird bath?

She could cover the bird bath for a few days (at least three) or let it dry up for that time and offer water at an alternate source for the birds for that time. It may or may not work. They're bees...

    Re: Harvesting Beebread?

A person can also take honey and bee pollen (maybe 50/50?) and mix it. Let it sit on counter for 2 weeks and eat that.

    Re: Comb honey

If you use the medium size frames, you will have a little room to reposition the 4x4 inch square to get the best comb. The 4x4 squares fit perfectly in the comb boxes. Drain cut comb first on a...
