Hey all;
I've started using BeeWeavers queens, and am pleased with their performance. However, the hive I've put the queen is in very aggressive... I am wondering if other people have experienced...
Well, one queen hatched thus far! I am hoping to give her to a local beek who's misfortune has left him with two queenless hives. I only have two workers in with her at the moment... its hard to...
Well, you're in luck, as long as you have drones... I have some Bee Weaver virgin queens that I took out of a swarm-ready hive. Give me a call at 203-435-8248. lets see if we can get you one!
Save the bees, yes... just not those nasty Africanized ones!!
I've seen some of my bees attack a new queen. It seemed pretty obvious they werent happy with her. They climbed on her and kept curling their bodies in that tell-tale stinging position.
Hi all;
I just did a split of one hive which was getting to be very cramped conditions. I noticed a number of swarm cells towards the lower half of a couple frames... I removed the cells and have...
Thanks, yeah, It seems like theres a lot less bees now.... Maybe the forager all went to the regular home. I think I can get a local queen this week, so I may add her, and put in some more bees...
Hi guys;
I split a hive last Monday, and checked it today. I didn't see any queen cells, and I DID see drone comb where the drones had started to emerge and then seem to have died, like they ate...
Checked my bees: The hive that did NOT die of idiot-induced dysentery is doing very well indeed. They are all busy on the top though... should I still reverse the deeps? Do I want the cluster on...
Been working on a story, though I am not a professional writer by far! Still, if you'd like to read it and/or give your two cents, you can check itout here:

Long story short, I gave them some (my bad for acting on my own "common sense" and not checking in here first!!), and one hive has some nasty dysentery... I've read there's no cure- all I can do is...
Would it be recommended to do a newspaper combine with four deeps during the winter? I have one still-queenless hive and only one other hive
Also, and this may be a stupid question, what are the...
What are the benefits of doing a newspaper combine?
Hey all;
Any recommendations for a good queen breeder? I need a queen who can over-winter here in CT and who is also hopefully an industrious girl- carniolan perhaps?
They definitely don't have 3-5 open frames. These are VERY industrious bees, and it kills me that something happened to their queen (what were they thinking?!). So should I stop feeding them so...
And how about room for eggs? Should I stop feeding them this week so that they hopefully make room for egg-laying?
If you're in the northeast, when are you planning to pull off your supers? My first super is pretty full, but not entirely capped...
Hi all;
Noticed no brood awhile ago (See http://www.beesource.com/forums/showthread.php?273934-Ready-to-quit-beekeeping!!!&highlight=jengalill)
Put a frame of eggs from my other hive in and they...
So I bought a little container of Fumigilin which it says is used to make 20 liters of feed for 3 over-wintering nucs. (I have 2). Being a hobby beek, I am not going to make 20 liters at one time,...
I have 2 deeps on two hives. For my good hive, I have a super on it filled with nectar and they had started to cap the honey, but things slowed greatly.
There are still lots of bees, yes.

Hmm... well, I put a frame of eggs in from my remaining hive. If they do have a queen, they would not make a queen cell, so that's one way I could find out. My concern is do they stand a chance of...
I did a thorough inspection. Dont know if there is a queen, but absolutely no brood and only about 6 frames worth of honey
Hi all;
Im a second year beek, and I am just ready to give up!!! I lost both my hives last year, and now I just went to inspect my most productive hive this summer and there is NO brood. They were...
Hi all,
So I have a couple dwarf pear trees, and have been advised to plant them about 100 ft apart to encourage pollination. I'm just wondering if I can plant them further away given that I'll...
Hmm... greenbee.com seems to be an insurance site...?
