    I also would guess smell,My wife just caught her first sting and this is her second year of beekeeping,And I think the only reason was because she was standing next to my mentor and the bees wanted...

    I am 51 and my body is failing me(arthritis) ,My mentor is 70 with bad lungs and can run circles around me with no sign of slowing down.

    It just amazes me how some people can keep going right...

    I would be afraid that "the cure" would be the thing that killed them.

    I did get a perscription after the Doctor found out I mess with bees alot,never had a problem but he kinda freaked out...

    I have seen $15 to $20 per frame, But like others have said,try to get in good with some local beeks and you may never have to pay again other than paying it forward.

    I usually stop after seeing good patterns in eggs,unless I need to make splits or to see if she was replaced.
    I figure if I keep pulling frames looking for her the odds of killing her increase.

    Same as everyone else, I paint it on or rub it on.

    I have a small crock pot that i melt wax in,$3 at a second hand store.

    I wear gloves,not so much because of being stung but because my hands peel and crack whenever I'm outside.
    I wear a veil 90% of the time except when I'm checking hives in the winter.

    I have one hive that has/is doing the same thing, Thought it was too crowded or too hot but, it is not the case.
    I noticed it is a combination of many guards and bees with butts...

    I have one hive that is doing the same thing,from about 6 pm til dark.
    The only one out of 12 hives,I even added an extra deep also but no change.

    Figured it's just bees being bees, weird...

    No problem with them in the hives,even have a bee tree that is a Box Elder that has alot of the bugs and the bees do not care.

    Now Box Elder bugs in my house is a different problem:(

    Have that myself,Had no idea that there are about 20 plus pallets of bees less than a 1/8 of a mile from me until a different beek asked me about it.
