Re: Extractor-less honey by- "Honey Flow" - Flow Hive

I am pretty sure if that was the case this thread and the flow hive would not have made it past the second page.

Re: First package install for me

Just got back from Fl and Key West. Heat is relative. Thank god for air conditioning. Now it is cold up here and the bees are hunkering down.

    Re: Running Out of Room

David suggested shaking the bees down. I would not do that.

    Re: Running Out of Room

I am not saying the advice you got from your supplier is wrong but their main focus is to sell you equipment. You must know where the queen is in order to use that QE. Shaking those foundationless...

Re: Brood in 4th medium - manipulate frames?

This happens when boxes of foundation are added to soon or rapidly. Unless you use a QE the bees decide where the brood chamber is. In warmer weather it can be scattered like what you have. In...

Re: how often to extract honey?

I would pull a couple of frames up in the box of foundation and replace the one's you pulled up with foundation.

    Re: How does this look?

I would say it is a small swarm that should be in a smaller space. The smaller the swarm the longer it will take to get to a population that can fill a frame with brood. I only see a tiny bit of...

He can include a link to any video hosting site that he has declared public.
  9. Re: Why build up ends on a stationary 5-frame migratory nuc cover?

It is cheaper and easier to use a towel or a scrap piece of roofing paper.

Re: First package install for me

Well I could be confused on what I saw where now. I had to look at three hives before I leave and I breathed in a lot of smoke that I am not use to and it was hotter then Haiti's.

    Thanks for...
  11. Re: Why build up ends on a stationary 5-frame migratory nuc cover?

The migratory top is design so you can pack hives together. If you are not doing that than why not telescopic?

Re: First package install for me

I checked 6 of the 8 frames in the bottom box which they were installed in. There wasn't any queen cells. The only management decision I could make would be to add boxes if I thought there were...

Re: New split for me today

    Update:

It looks like the split got the queen. I saw capped brood and larvae today so that makes the big hive queenless? I am not sure because I saw larvae in it too. Could it have overwintered...

Re: First package install for me

Today is the last day I had to check on this hive (actually all of them). I am not see brood in the package one and I did not see the marked queen. Although I did not pull all the frames and I...

Re: Irrational Response to Hurting a Bee?

This concern for a single honeybee will ween when one stings you. It gives up her life in her pee brain mind to protect the hive in general. You may have no intention of harming the hive but it...

  18. Re: Bee photo wanted for business card, earn a hundred bucks

Maybe it is just me, OT I would not be embarrassed at all. Beekeepers helping beekeepers that is what it is about on beesource. Shasta got to show his/her incredible talent and you got to choose...

  20. Re: Bee photo wanted for business card, earn a hundred bucks

I would have picked this one OT. Lighter background and the bee image way off to the right.

    Super photography Shasta.

Re: First package install for me

If you have a spacer between the SBB and the solid board that is super. I guess i am at a loss as to why they wanted to build comb on the plastic tray and build it up. It was not on the screen like...

  23. Re: Bee photo wanted for business card, earn a hundred bucks

That's the fallacy OT what you see on the outside comes from the more privileged. We have starving people in this country just like you do in yours but you will not see them unless you want to see...
  24. Re: When to increase the opening on the entrance reducer?

I don't see that at all. And that size opening for a northerner is ridiculous in the summer for an active hive.

Re: First package install for me

FoxC here is the problem with the SBB, it is known that the tray should be about two inches away from the screen if you put a solid BB under a SBB you are 3/4 or less from the screen. You might as...
