  1. Re: 32 LBS from 9 Medium Frames - Sound about right?

Sounds about right. I figure that I get a full 5 gallon bucket from 2, 9 frame supers.......which is 60 lbs.

Re: Move the hives to the bean fields?

If more studies were done that show a 10%-40% increase in soybean yields, Farmers would be much happier to help with our beekeeping!!

Re: When to completely remove the reducer?

I use the 1" reducer opening until they have a waiting line on the landing board. Then I move to the 3" opening, and when that gets crowded, I use the Mann Lake stainless mouse guards over the...

    Re: Wax Moth

I clean away the wax moth damage and then freeze the brood boxes and frames for 3 days in a chest freezer.

Re: Please post pics of your hive stands!!

Here is what I use. 4x4 posts buried in the ground with a 2x4 frame and 2x6 decking on them. They are 8' long, so I can get 5 hives on each stand if needed.

Re: Swarmed Hive- When does it recover?

You may be fine, but keep an eye on things. I had a hive swarm and I thought they were still doing ok. The queen must have died, the bees died out and the wax moths went to work. I can only check...

Re: spacer between honey super and brood box?

Make sure the hive is strong enough to control this new entrance for the wax moths.

    Re: Dead queen, super bummed

I have lost two queens this year. One in a new package and one in a 3rd year hive. Who knows what happens sometimes.

    Re: Ants In The Hive

I wouldn't pour used motor oil on the ground. It would make a mess, no plants will want to grow and I would guess that it's illegal to do.

    Re: Honey Container Prices

Sorry Doug, I don't have any kids. So glass containers never end up in the landfills or oceans? I wonder how so many ocean/lake swimmers cut their feet on glass? :)
  13. Re: What do u do with your honey supers after you extract?

No, I store them in my shop. I take the frames out of the supers, so I can get 100+ in the freezer at one time. It only takes a couple weeks to do them all.
  14. Re: What do u do with your honey supers after you extract?

    I have 45 supers......so far.
  15. Re: What do u do with your honey supers after you extract?

I freeze my frames for a couple days and then stack them indoors for next year.

    Re: Honey Container Prices

I have a freezer that I heat to 102 degrees. The crystallized honey is liquid in a few days. I won't be switching to glass, because I like the flip lids and ability to squeeze the bottle. How do...

    Re: Honey Container Prices

I have never had anyone ask for glass containers nor has anyone ever complained about my plastic bottles. Do you drink pop or water from a bottle? I'm not saying that you aren't right about the...
  18. Re: Are you keeping your honey prices same as last year?

No change in pricing for me. 2 oz. Bears $1.50. 6 oz. Bears $3.00(and no one ever buys these, so I will discontinue when I give them all away). 12 oz. Bears $5.00. 1 lb. bottle $6.00. 2 lb. bottle...

    Re: Ants In The Hive

Sprinkle a little cinnamon powder on top of the inner cover, and the ants will be gone. I had this problem last Summer and the cinnamon was suggested by another member on here. It works great!

Re: 6oz Teddy Bear how much to charge?

Hopefully you will have better luck with the 6 oz. bears than me. I have never sold one, so I won't order more of those. 2 lb. is my best seller and then 12 oz. bears.
