    Percent of Honey to Harvest

I don't want to take too much honey to starve them but I have no idea what amount of honey would be excess and what is essential for survival. Of course it would be based on size of the colony and...

Re: Too Late to Make Nuc's?

I have eight hives, four are going strong. I see several people mention using mated queens. Would it be wise to remove the queen from a strong hive to start the nuc and let the strong hive raise a...

    Too Late to Make Nuc's?

Just what the title says. I wanted to start two or three Nuc's. Do you think I will be ok or should I wait for another time. If so, when do you suggest?

Sounds like you need some tactful educated and appreciative hunter to come harvest some table fare.

    Re: Hygienic Behavior, Why?

Varroa problems immediately popped into my head as a possibility but I don't even know how to test them for mite levels?

    Hygienic Behavior, Why?

This is my first year beekeeping and I am finding I can hardly keep up with educating myself on new situations and experiences. I peformed a cutout on a fairly small hive about a month ago. I removed...

Re: Best Manner in Which to Feed

I was hoping by limiting the amount of feed it could encourage drawing of comb but not storage, perhaps not. The removal of exisitng honey is a good idea.

Would a front hive feeder help discourage...

The supercedure cells possibility makes sense as there are so few cells but the queen is really hammering out a ton of eggs in a great pattern, she sure seems like she has plenty of miles to me, lol....
