    I bought one of the beginner hive kits (two deeps and three mediums ten frame) from Valley Bee. They are $121 on their website if I remember correctly. No problems at all. No knots, no warped boards....

    Texas requires registry for six hives, $10 fee. Arkansas is just a couple miles from me and has a buffer zone for protecting existing apiaries. I am not sure how many miles it covers though.
