    it blooms earlier up north cause winter comes sooner they have a more condensed season up north

    I did the same thing last year the queens stopped laying and we had no goldenrod flow. clusters went into winter small. we still have clover and sumac as soon as that's done i'm going to trickle feed...

    here bee inspectors only need 3 years experience to take the course and test to get certified to do inspections for the state. the only thing they have jurisdiction over is bee disease.

    last year sourwood lasted till end of july here. dutch clover will go on a little while because of all the rain. winged sumac is also in full bloom right now after that not much till later in august

    I had solid bottoms I think around here the screened bottom doesn't offer enough protection from cold winds the harder the colony has to work to keep the cluster warm the more bees die take a look at...

    Setting up a feeder outside the hive when there is no nectar coming in can start robbing. every colony with in 2 miles will come to the all you can eat buffet and they will all be in the robbing...

    I am also north of Nashville to the east in scott county. winter before last I wintered 16 five frame nucs in split 10 frame boxes 12 made it. we had that polar vortex come thru with sub zero nights...
