I bought from greenbeehives, many time before. They have been very fair, even with a mixed up order, delivery is not super fast about 2 weeks.
Overall, very pleased. I think they use plasticell...
  2. hundreds of bees trapped, in rear car lenses, installed a screen

2007 bmw, rear lenses have vents for heat, so when I hauled a couple hives, or moved supers,

    Re: Comb Too Old?

I have same issue, lower broodcombs are empty and abandoned, and a otherwise strong hive moves up with brood, and honey.
My area has more pesticides and they stop using them, or.....?
  4. retail price suggestions for a medium frame of honey, wood frame and all

Re: DIY Crush and Strain equipment

I've shown this before, but one frame and one quart extraction rig, for plastic foundation, I made, not rocket science.
Helps with varietal separation, frame by frame.

  6. Re: I scrape and reuse the wood frames - I must be introducing some "toxic" elements?

    Thanks Michael,
You are a great resource here, use concise outline format, and really take the time to inform us green horns.
  7. Re: I scrape and reuse the wood frames - I must be introducing some "toxic" elements?

yes, but OK to reuse wood?
  8. Re: I scrape and reuse the wood frames - I must be introducing some "toxic" elements?

varroa, light insecticide buildup, nosemia, or other non desirables.
  9. I scrape and reuse the wood frames - I must be introducing some "toxic" elements?

I snap out the old plastic brood foundation and put new plastic in, but can't help but think,
I am inoculation some nasty chemical, or biological elements, besides the obvious like foulbrood,
    when...

    Re: Swarm Trap

Notice I carefully used the qualifier, "in my experience"
I can't explain why, the results were less. They are different approaches, to attraction.

    I've tried all 4 types:
    LGO
    the pheremone test tubes

Re: Too many hives at 1 place?

    no one has a monopoly,
I have the same situation here.
yield is way down, only the super strong colonies produce a surplus.
  15. aggressive racoon, or fox?, climbs 12 feet, flips heavy lids, eats comb, trap set

Fish cat food, is the bait. That high up, I could probably poison with rat pellets, but will try "humane" way first.
Anyone here, good at identifying animal doodie? Property owner said raccoon or...

  19. Re: full sun, small cement pad, fenced, (for me) = very little SHB

Have you had a chance to watch what happens to larvae that try to make the trip?
    no
  20. full sun, small cement pad, fenced, (for me) = very little SHB

A larger cement pad would be great,
but this location has only about 10 percent of the beetles my other nearby locations have, even after 2 years.
    Just saying.
I am sure, they can migrate a few...
  21. Poll: Is Florida citrus doomed? Are most beeks no going to groves in 2014?

It's old news, Citrus greening spraying left a lot of losses in 2013.

    How will this evolve?
    No new plantings?
    Destroy old trees?
    Abandon groves, with old trees?
