    Re: New beekeeper in WV

Welcome. I agree with tenbears and Gary. I'm transitioning now from deep to all mediums. It just makes too much sense to have one standard for everything. Hope your nucs take off. Good Luck and enjoy...

Re: Queens are tougher than you think...

I wonder if having ready access to queens being a breeder, might make one a little trigger happy too quick? By the way, great QR article David, i printed it off, I'm going to give it a go next...

Re: New Nuc dead with 4 days

Dont quit, we all lose a hive. First one sucks but maybe the seller will make it right. I would think any seller would expect their product to last more than 4 days. G

Re: need advice saving my split

I just give em one capped and one open, Honey, pollen and a spare, with a extra shake, there seems to be plenty of nurses left. Like someone else said, its a few days before activity picks up, once...
  11. Re: Frame and wax foundation mismatch or bad quality control.

In their defense, It does say use split bottoms with wax in the catalog Mike. G

( that might be new this years catalog, I swear I remember in the past it saying either, but I could be wrong.)
  12. Re: Frame and wax foundation mismatch or bad quality control.

Funny Barry, when drawn, my splits have room on the bottom for SHB. Grooved bars are flat on the bottom. G

  14. Re: Frame and wax foundation mismatch or bad quality control.

I bought mine from the same place Roland, I just bought the grooved instead of split to try and limit SHB hiding spots. I still like the frame bottoms better grooved, If I use foundation in the...

Re: A journey of my first Hogan trap out

That's great man. I have one getting ready to start myself. I spoke with Mr. Hogan last week and he sent me his PDF. I'm going to attach the adaptor this week and give em a few days to get used to...
  19. Re: Frame and wax foundation mismatch or bad quality control.

Yep, I found out as well. I was using splits last year, but ordered grooved, figuring less place for shb's and I have to trim all the medium foundation to make it fit. All mine came from ML. It...

Re: What is chewing on my hive?

Woodpeckers sound a lot louder when they are working on a hollow tree. Or, your house and you are inside. I think a pecker could probably work on a hive unnoticed since the only thing in the echo...
