Or a workshop.
The SC Farm Bureau wrote me a product liability policy and increased my home owner's liability as well. I wanted the homeowner's increased just in case someone tripped over my wife's flower pots...
Keith,
Now don't you go around trying to confuse people with logical and rational thought. It just blows my mind to hear proponents of FGMO, vinegar, tea tree oil, and all the other latest magic...
I was very saddend to learn of Steve Taber's passing. We are going to miss him greatly.
I have always found Wilbanks to be courteous, professional and dependable.
I live just south of Charlotte and am not sure I like this, but then what can be done about it? I will share this info with our enviormental agency asking them to contact their counterparts in...
We're getting a good brood build-up and drones here in Lancaster. Now if we can avoid a late freeze like last year we might make a little honey. Here's hoping.
Check out your local Farm Bureau. Thet may be able to help you.
Extracted 1400 pounds last year off 25 or 26 colonies. This year we only made 600 pounds. The late freeze did it to us.
I plan to use Apiguard, if needed. Right now I have empty supers on all my colonies to keep the wax moths in check. Should I remove the supers while the Apiguard in on the colony? Thanks.
What is rain?
I use a nine frame manually operated extractor I bought from Brushy. I try to pull no more supers than I can extract in day. I'll pull between 10 to 15 supers with 9 frames to a super during the...
The season is over for those of us in the southern Piedmnont of SC; Lancaster, Chester and York counties. An informal poll of local folks indicates we made about 50% of what would normally.
Has anyone bought Russian Queens from Jester Bee this spring and if so what are your impressions? Have they produced, do they behave the way you would expect Russians to behave, have you had...
My good friend and mentor told me to lose the gloves. I did.
Last year, 25 colonies yielded 1400 pounds.
This year, 30 colonies will yield an estimated 600 pounds.
The weather has been just lousy; warm when it should have been cold, really cold when it...
Where I live, bears are not a problem. In fact few if any mammals bother our colonies. However, those of us who plant vegetable gardens and orchards have to contend with the scourge of the earth,...
Has anyone considered the possibility that the " Rapture" has begun and we have been left behind? Just a thought.
Has anyone in the South used this stuff and if so what were your results? Thanks.
How many hive beetles have you seen? A few doesn't count as an infestation. Just keep an eye on them and keep your hives strong. It was mentioned at the SC/NC meeting in Monroe, NC that strong...
The nectar flow has begun, though tentatively. Its about two weeks early. I've got supers on most of my colonies.
Keith, if you do get to talk to him, a word of caution, Steve Taber gives meaning to the word irrascible (sp ?).
Keith, I would think someone in the Midlands Beekeepers Assoc. would know how to get in touch with him. Contact Clemson Ext. Service to get a contact person or Dr. Mike Hood at Clemson U. might have...
Just one more thing, they produced as well as or better than my old Italians.
I've been using Russians for three years now and tend to like them. They do appear to be tolerant of V. mites and T. mites. They overwinter well, are frugal with the honey stores, and maintain a...
