I stand corrected : )
The op never said it was 25% moisture content. Looks like just crystallized honey to me, especially since it's been setting for quite awhile. Either tell the customers that it is crystallized or...
They especially like honey bees, so get rid of the skunk
How did they get into the oil pan? If you are talking about a shb oil tray under a screen BB, they shouldn't be able get there. The oil will drown them.
>Do I just need to use a stronger vac? <
Yep, the 6.5 hp vac is the ticket.
Could you post some pictures of your set up, especially the pallets?
We just made up 20 nucs with 2 frames of brood, one honey and pollen, and one empty yesterday. Gave them mated queens today. Plan to do at least one more round of them maybe 2 if we get rain to keep...
Noticed the OP started this thread early Sunday and hasn't been back since.:D
Anyone know of any breeders in the northern states with VP stock for sale? Been looking but not having much luck.
Remember that swarms are comb building fools, I would look now to make sure they are building properly and not cross combed. Much easier to fix early rather than late.
Lol OldIron must have run out of popcorn, and decided to go off topic and stir the pot with the afb , we where talking about BeeWeaver queens not pure Afb. Trust me there are plenty of other strains...
They ship June 2nd, should arrive the third. I'll have some queenless nucs waiting for them.
Thanks to everyone who offered imput on this thread. We are going forward with a 20 queen evaluation, if it goes very well or very bad I'll post it.
A couple of questions if that's ok. You say you gave her about 6 weeks, did you requeen a hive with her or was it a package or nuc?
Also you say that " all other b weaver queens from last year are...
Any thoughts on why they didn't make it through the winter?
An important point would be their overwintering ability. My interest comes from looking for bees that may be able to survive varroa without chemical treatment, while I see various VSH lines being...
I've found that the bees don't seem to consider the other side of the follower away from the brood nest part of their hive. A 7/8" hole in the follower will allow any strays a way back into the hive,...
Any northern states beekeepers using Beeweaver Queens? I'm more interested in recent or current experiences than 10 years ago. They claim to be much calmer now. We are considering about 20 of them...
How deep in the smoker do you fill with the pellets for a couple hour burn?
Are you planning to blow them out in the shop?
Done : )
You may find this of interest.
Try to plug up all grooves if you use foundation type frames for foundationless, SHB like to hide in the grooves.
I wonder if that suit would work on whitetail deer? :) might be enough to throw them off.
Burns thanks for sharing, I couldn't remember where I saw it either but it worked great. I only needed about 90 psi, small cell must come out easier lol. :D
