    Re: Winter nucs ???

I'm not a pro on wintering NUCS, but you have to think of a NUC as a mini hive. A 2-3 frame cluster in a 5 frame NUC equates to 4-6 frame cluster in a 10 frame box. Jim

Hello Ben, Never overwintered bees as far north as you but if they keep sealing the vent holes you provide then I would let them, they prob know more of what they want or need right now.. Jim

  13. Re: What to do with Hive/bees once you have Harvested Honey?

Most of use don't take honey from the bee hive(bottom two or three boxs) but from the honey supers above it, and the bees you remove from them will return to the hive.

Re: what to do with "overdrawn comb"?

Think about it Ace, spilled syrup IN THE hive, open feeding or a strong hive -vs- a weak hive CAN lead to robbing, and the robbing ain't all done on the landing board its done IN THE HIVE.

Re: How hot is too hot for a cut-out?

If they are to hot to work with just a smoker and veil I dont want them. If it's a hive I know and they get hot, I'll re-queen but if it's a feral hive I do them in or recommend it be done.
