Re: Best label printer for the buck

Have you shown us your label yet? If so, I missed it. What does it look like? Please show us.
  2. Re: Whats your average date for the start of queenrearing

I don't graft. But my bees and I are in SC. I get queen cells from a friend of mine, Lynn Barton. I'm going to check my earliest splits Sunday afternoon. I made them 2 weeks ago. Lynn caught queens...

Re: How much pollen is too much

Leave it be. "Bees make better beekeepers than beekeepers make bees." Michael Palmer
In other words, your bees know what they are doing and you should trust them.

    Re: Cheap Nucs?

Of course we are providing a service. If we weren't people would have to have their own hives to have honey. "Don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle." Honey Marketers don't sell Honey, they sell the...

    Re: Cheap Nucs?

My wife told me one time, referring to my wholesale honey price, "I wouldn't pay that much for honey." Thing is, I'm not selling honey to her. I'm selling honey to people who willingly pay what it...

    Re: Cheap Nucs?

So I shouldn't put a $200.00 price tag on my Nucs because that price wouldn't be fair?

    Re: 4 Way Pallets

You should be able to find planes by searching archives.

Why do you want to use a 4 way pallet with so few a set of hives? Do you have a way of handling a pallet of hives? A skidsteer loader or...
  13. Re: Thoughts on reducing space in the spring - looking for input

An empty box on the bottom is a good place to store that box. It'll be there when it's needed. That said, if your colony is as small as it seems you may have other problems than too much space.

Re: Whiten up the comb--how to?

If you didn't rain the solution down onto the comb simply placing the comb into the solution won't get much of the solution into the cells. Surface tension keeps the cells from filling with liquid....

Re: Best Topical for Bee Sting

And then put some of what was between cheek and gum on the sting spot. That's the Folk Remedy I referred to earlier. But I heard it was chewing tobacco, not snuff. As little as one works, I am sure...

Re: Best Topical for Bee Sting

Bee, should anyone get stung the first thing to do is scrape the stinger off of the exposed skin. I use my hive tool or a finger nail. Do so as soon as possible to minimize the amount of venom...

Re: Best Topical for Bee Sting

    Spit. And hugs.

Which are mostly just comforting and don't actually reduce swelling or sting pain. Only time will do that. Or maybe distraction like an ice cream cone or something. Stings hurt....
